I am directed by Earl Curzon of Kedleston to acknowledge the receipt of your letter No. 47799 of the 20th instant and to observe in reply that, if and when the Treaty of Peace with Germany enters into force as between Germany and China German subjects vill presumably, if Chinese legislation allows, retum to the latter country. It would appear to be a matter for the Goverment of Hong Kong to decide whether they desire to exclude such persons frɔn jassing through

the Colony.

Lord Curzon will be glad to obtain the views of His l'ajesty's "inister at Peking on the nestion

put in your letter if this is desired.
